SALVAGE:

We do not only specialise in ship salvage work, but have recovered trucks, cars, pumps and even a wedding ring-set from dams, sea, rivers and harbours throughout the country.

Grasveld, a small 26 ton Pillargic trawler, sank in Gansbaai harbour, after a floating plank got wedged between the jetty and hull, the plank penetrated the hull and took on water during the night. She ended on the bottom. She was a total loss due to the storm that day, most of her hull planking was broken on both sides. Wheelhouse was taken off and brought onto even keel, ply-wood sheets were nailed and sealed to all holes and refloated. She was scraped and broken up on the slipway.

3 days later she was afloat, and pulled onto the slipway and demollised.

WELDING & CUTTING:

Virtually all metals and other materials can be cut, burned, pierced or melted, in the underwater environment.

Some of the cutting and welding available include:

Underwater cutting:

Anchor chain for release of anchor.
Inspection plates welded on rope-guards or rudders.
Piles and beams at sea-bed level for marine construction.
Entanglement of foreign objects around propeller and rope-guards.

Underwater welding:

Cofferdams for dry-repair purpose.
Sacrificial anodes on hull and appurtenances for protection.
Steel plates for sealing of leakage holes.

Flaring of bent propeller blades for straightening.
Trimming of propeller blades for balancing.

The Broco Underwater Ultrathermic Cutting System

The Broco Underwater Ultrathermic Cutting System is the diving industry's standard for underwater cutting tools. This cutting system consists of torch and rods. The torch is designed to support Broco rods at any underwater depth. The Ultrathermic Cutting Rod produces a temperature in excess of 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit; hot enough to quickly cut or melt through almost any material including cast iron, stainless steel, brass, other ferrous and non-ferrous metals and concrete. The Broco rods are copper coated for better conductivity and corrosion resistance.
